Beyond Sticks brought two travel teams, East Coast: Great Falls and NOVA, to Christopher Newport this weekend. On Saturday, the youngest team, East Coast: Great Falls played down in Newport News. Despite being the team’s second tournament ever, they are starting to make great strides in thier passes and increasing the speed of play. Both the coach and the parents saw, even through the rain, some great hockey.

Also, in a nice moment of bonding, the girls enthusiastically wore teal to support CNU’s “Debbie Cale Stick it to Cancer” fundraiser. With matching ribbons, teal nail polish and Ovarian Cancer Ribbon temporary tattoos, they played and looked great.

On Sunday East Coast: NOVA played some very pretty hockey. They focused on the angles within thier passing patterns and drawing the keeper with great success. It is encouraging to see the incredible improvement in chemistry between our players that have a season of indoor together. Equally encouraging was how our two young forwards coming up from the junior squads truly stepped up to the plate this weekend. NOVA left with four strong wins out of five games.
